PAUCHI SASAKI: THE VIOLINIST WHO MOVED US IN THE OPENING CEREMONY

Our Peruvian violinist will delight us again with her music in the Culturaymi.

The Culturaymi Cultural Program did not cease to amaze us. This time we will have the privilege of once again enjoying the talent of our Peruvian violinist Pauchi Sasaki, who impressed us at the Lima 2019 Opening Ceremony.

Here is the video “Detrás del Arte” (Behind the Art) to learn more about her.

Who is Pauchi Sasaki?

Pauchi Sasaki’s classical violin studies started at the very young age of 5 years old. This incredible violinist studied Andean music at CEMDUC, classical music of North India with master Ali Akbar Khan in San Rafael, California; and Klezmer music with Alicia Svigals in NYC. She holds a BA in Journalism at PUCP in Lima, and an MFA degree in Electronic Music and Recording Media at Mills College in Oakland, California. Her violin style is the result of her exposure to different cultures.

Pauchi Sasaki’s interdisciplinary approach integrates musical composition with the design of multimedia performances and the application of new technologies. She is a composer, performer, and improviser that collaborates actively with projects linked to film, dance, theater, installation, site-specific and interdisciplinary performances. Pauchi has performed internationally in Latin America, Europe, the United States, and Japan.

Her work has been presented at the Tokyo Experimental Festival, the Art Basel Miami week, Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival, The Kitchen, Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Hall, MET, Venice Biennale, Gran Teatro Nacional del Perú, among other venues.

And today we are lucky to have her in the Culturaymi Cultural Program free of charge. You cannot miss it!

When will she perform?

Pauchi Sasaki will perform on August 8 at the Lima Art Museum (MALI) from 21:00 to 22:15.

*NOTE: We suggest your cellphone is fully charged to record this great show.
