When hear “Peru”, the first thing that comes to mind is visiting “Machu Picchu” and eating delicious food!  We are a country with a rich culture and our cuisine also stands out.

Making this article has been really hard, as there is an infinite variety of small restaurants where you can eat really good food with all you can ask for (the good, the pretty, low prices and big portions).

Here are five mandatory places to visit to enjoy and spoil your senses over and over again.

1. S' ´Concha

S’ Concha opened on May 13, 2018 and since then it has not stopped surprising us, with great dishes that are a nice choice for seafood lovers. Its seasoning is delicious because it has creole bases with northern touches that make you travel back in time and savor the taste of ancient times, as if prepared by our ancestors.

So, you know, if you are going to the Eduardo Dibós Coliseum for the Lima 2019 Games, you can go and visit this recommended restaurant located at Leoncio Prado 645 - Surquillo.

Another recommended option is the Bodeguita del Mau.  A traditional restaurant with an excellent creole food. The place is small but very warm, with a varied menu. Prices are affordable and you will be wanting to taste more.

If you go to the National Stadium to see any discipline of the Lima 2019 Games, we recommend you have lunch in this charming place located at La Victoria, really close to the sport venue.

3. La Buena Muerte:

This restaurant is the first Peruvian seafood restaurant (cevichería) opened in the country, and it was named by clients, after the “Plazuela De La Buena Muerte”, place where it was located.

Mr. Minoru is the owner of this famous restaurant who implemented one of its signature features: to be eaten right after it is made, really fresh and without marinating. We will always find the restaurant’s specialties in the menu (such as the fish or kamaboko roll, as well as their unique tamal), La Buena Muerte appetizer (with seven varieties of fish and shellfish) and the nikkei sudado with miso (soy pasta prepared at the restaurant).

With more than 50 years, people often come back to eat there.

4. Chanfainita Pale:

It is considered a Peruvian signature dish made of lung, dear to all Peruvians.

It is no longer a small restaurant, since it has grown a lot. It counts six other establishments already, but it still keeps the essence of homemade food, as it started in a stand inside that same market in 1968.

In this spectacular restaurant, we can find several great combinations such as: chanfainita with ceviche, mote and papa a la huancaina.

There are a few bowls with peppers like the one that you get in the anticuchos carts (with chopped spring onions), for free!

The address is: Av. Roosevelt, cuadra 8, next to the Mercado N°2 parking in Surco. If you get lost, just make this question to anyone nearby: Where is the best chanfainita?

With the Spanish conquest, new ingredients, meals and cooking methods arrived. The “Sancochado” is one of the meals that shows this culinary fusion.

If you want to taste this traditional dish in Lima, you can find it here, at the Palacio Del Sancochado, a place that keeps stories on its walls. Its decoration is one of its best attractions. You can take selfies with one hand and eat delicious soup with the other, and with this cold weather..., it’s the best thing ever!

If you are near the National Stadium, here is the address and the fanpage: 28 de Julio 990 - Cercado de Lima.
