LIMA 2019 INTRODUCES CULTURAYMI ARTISTS

Lucho Quequezana, Fabiola de la Cuba, Bartola, Los Mirlos, Tony Succar, Dina Páucar, Damaris, Bareto, Deyvis Orozco and Pedro Suárez Vértiz are a few of the artists that will perform.

LIMA 2019 officially introduced the talented artists that will be a part of the CULTURAYMI cultural program of the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games, which will put the world’s spotlight on Peru.

At a meeting that gathered well-known musicians of various genres, Carlos Neuhaus, president of the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee, thanked each of them for their presence and stressed that culture and sports “must go hand in hand.” He added that “Peru is a country with such rich tradition that we cannot miss out on the chance to showcase it. We have the right and the obligation to do so.”

At the same time, Juan Antonio Silva, Lima 2019 Communications, Commercial and Marketing manager, said that Culturaymi is a great opportunity to show who we are as Peruvians, to positively transform the country and to make ourselves visible to the world. “We wanted to be more than a sports competition,” he concluded.

The singer Fabiola de la Cuba gave thanks, on behalf of the artists, for having the opportunity to participate in CULTURAYMI, which she described as “very important” because of its significance and because “it will leave a mark that seems vital to us. We want to generate culture,” she said.

CULTURAYMI is a great opportunity to show the world the best of Peruvian Culture and provide an alternative source of entertainment for Peruvians and foreigners. Culturaymi will take place at the same time as the Lima 2019 sports competitions. It will open its doors on Saturday 27 and Parque de la Exposición will be its main venue. The content is organized into nine zones throughout the venue, with two stages, an exhibition and workshop area, a food fair, a giant screen and a ticket booth for sports competitions (Teleticket), thus offering the visitor a comprehensive experience.

The program is varied and includes musicians from all genres and trends who will have amazing repertories for the public. The list is endless and there are various options. Lucho Quequezana, Fabiola de la Cuba, Dina Páucar, Bartola, Tony Succar, Los Mirlos, Josimar, Damaris, Banda Pedro Suárez Vértiz, Deyvis Orozco, Los Shapis, Bareto, Pelo Madueño, Miki González, Mar de Copas, Líbido, Amén, La Mente and Dilber Aguilar are just some of the renowned artists and groups that are going to perform. The audience will see them, and many more, in eye-catching shows full of lights, sound and color.

It is important to mention that the 46 winners of the Cultural Projects Contest of the CULTURAYMI program, selected by LIMA 2019, will showcase their talent in the following categories: Art workshops for social transformation, clothing design, visual arts, performing arts and Music. These are the works that won the Lima 2019 call and were well-received by participants.

At the same time, several districts in Lima are part of the LIMA 2019 Cultural Circuit: Ate, Barranco, Callao, Pachacamac, Pueblo Libre, Lima, Magdalena, Miraflores, San Miguel, San Borja, San Isidro and San Luis are part of this cultural crusade, hand in hand with LIMA 2019.

ABOUT LIMA 2019

The Opening Ceremony of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games will be held at the National Stadium on July 26. This continental event will gather 6680 athletes from 41 countries and delegations from the Americas.

There will be 17 days of competitions between July 26 and August 11, which will take place in 14 districts of Lima and Callao at various venues like VIDENA, Villa María Sports Center, Callao Regional Village, Villa El Salvador Sports Center, Punta Rocas, among others.

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games will include 39 sports and 61 disciplines, in which athletes will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. A total of 21 disciplines are qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Parapan American Games will gather 1890 Para athletes from 33 countries, participating in 17 sports and 18 disciplines. Competitions will take place from August 23 to September 1, 2019. Fourteen sports will be qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
