LIMA 2019 OPENS CULTURAYMI

LIMA 2019 opened the CULTURAYMI, the Pan American and Parapan American games cultural program, at the Parque de la Exposición. More than 10 000 people visited the event in the first day.

The Mayor of Lima, Jorge Muñoz Wells, the Minister of Environment, Lucía Ruiz, the Vice Minister of SMEs and Industry, Oscar Graham and the Lima 2019 Director of Communication, Commercialization and Marketing, Juan Antonio Silva attended the opening. This cultural celebration is a great opportunity to show the world the best of our traditions and provide with an entertainment alternative for all Peruvians and international visitors.

The Lima 2019 Director of Communication, Commercialization and Marketing, Juan Antonio Silva explained that the Culturaymi goes until August 11 and it will further develop concepts of the Pan American Games Opening Ceremony, such as cultural and natural diversity.

“With this program we want to show that Lima 2019 is more than the greatest multi-sport competition in the Americas and the second most important after the Olympic Games. This is an opportunity to show the culture of Peru to the world”, he mentioned.

The Mayor of Lima, Jorge Muñoz, said that having public spaces for culture unite people. He also invited families to visit the Culturaymi at the Parque de la Exposición.

The authorities enjoyed a performance by the Basic Alternative Education Children’s Choir – MINEDU, took the official photo and then, toured the facilities, the stands and the remodeled amphitheater (Fun Fest Hall).

Concerts at the Fun Fest Hall during the CULTURAYMI start today Saturday 27, before the official national holiday celebration with performances from the Band of Pedro Suárez Vértiz, Los Mirlos, Josimar y su Yambú and Deyvis Orozco. At the Morisco Stage we will have Big Band UNMSM, Liberato Kani, Las Respondonas, Wendy Sulca, Uchpa and Sabor y Control.

On July 28, Fun Fest will have a great program: Homage to Sr. De los Milagros-Danza, Hermanos Chávez, Los Cholos, Lucho Quequezana and Fabiola de la Cuba. Los mensajeros de la Selva, Ezequiel y Teresa Fuller Granda, Manuelcha Prado, Tunantada Adex (Dance) and Bartola will perform at the Morisco Stage.

There is a ticket sales stand at the Parque de la Exposición for the different Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American competitions.

ABOUT THE CULTURAYMI

In the precinct there are nine zones with various activities visitors can enjoy. There are two stages, an expositions and workshop area, a culinary festival, a big screen and a ticket point of sale for the competitions (Teleticket) offering a fantastic experience for the visitor.

The artistic program is quite diverse, and it includes musicians from all genres and trends for the public to enjoy. It is a large list with diverse options. Dina Páucar, Tony Succar, Damaris, Miki González, Los Shapis, Bareto, Pelo Madueño, Mar de Copas, Amén, La Mente and Dilber Aguilar, to name a few of the performers and groups. With them, many more have spectacular shows full of light, sound and color.

There will also be workshops and exhibitions, artisans from different parts of the country will show their best creations. There will also be dances and theatre for children and adults among many other things.

This great culture celebration will go from July 27 to August 10 and from July 24 to 31. The 46 winners of the Cultural Projects Contests of the CULTURAYMI by LIMA 2019, will put their talent in the categories: Art Workshops for Social Transformation, Clothing Design, Visual Arts, Music and Performing Arts. These won the well-received contest organized by Lima 2019.

Many districts are also part of the Lima 2019 Cultural Circuit: Ate, Barranco, Callao, Pachacamac, Pueblo Libre, Lima, Magdalena, Miraflores, San Miguel, San Borja, San Isidro and San Luis. They will simultaneously have attractive offers for visitors and neighbors.

Each of the activities in the CULTURAYMI are part of a large set of options, so nobody is left aside during this great cultural gathering called LIMA 2019.

CULTURAYMI celebrates creativity in Peru. It commemorates culture with a diverse and attractive agenda. It is the Cultural Program of the Lima 2019 Games.

ABOUT LIMA 2019

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games will gather 6680 athletes from 41 countries and delegations of the Americas. There will be 19 days of competitions and ceremonies between July 24 and August 11, which will take place in 14 districts of Lima and Callao. Some venues are the VIDENA, Villa María Sports Center, Callao Regional Village, Villa El Salvador Sports Center, Punta Rocas, among others

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games will include 39 sports and 62 disciplines, in which athletes will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. A total of 21 disciplines are qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Parapan American Games will gather 1890 Para athletes from 33 countries, who will participate in 17 Para sports and 18 disciplines.

Competitions will take place from August 23 to September 1, 2019. Additionally, 13 sports will be qualifiers for Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games
