PRESIDENT MARTIN VIZCARRA VISITS PERUVIAN ATHLETES AT PAN AMERICAN VILLAGE

The President greeted the athletes who will start their participation in the Pan American Games this week. “This is the largest sports celebration in the Americas,” he said.

Showing his commitment to the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, the President of Peru, Martín Vizcarra, visited the Peruvian delegation at the Pan American Village this afternoon. The national athletes are ready to make their debut in the first competitions. The President was also shared the excitement all Peruvians feel a few hours away from the Opening Ceremony to be held at the National Stadium.

President Vizcarra surprised the Peruvian athletes in the dining hall of the Village while they were taking lunch, and he encouraged them to give their best in their competitions. He then toured the third tower of the Village, where the Peruvian team is staying at, accompanied by the Chef of Mission of the Lima 2019 delegation, Jenny Martínez, and the Lima 2019 Official Spokesperson, Carlos Lazarte.

“As the President of Peru, I’m glad to host the Pan American Games. It’s milestone for our country. We’ve welcomed almost 7000 athletes from across the continent who will give their all on the field of play. This is a true sport and brotherhood celebration, and we are here to welcome them with our arms wide open,” said Vizcarra.

Peru will be represented by 308 men and 284 women, who will try to make it to the podium in 38 sports. The delegation has several Olympic athletes such as Kimberly García, Mari Luz Andía, Inés Melchor and Gladys Tejeda in athletics; Paloma Schmidt in sailing; Camila Valle and Renzo León in rowing; as well as Alessandro De Souza in shooting.                                                          

Also, Vizcarra publicly congratulated the members of the Organizing Committee of the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games, as they carefully prepared every detail to welcome the national and international participants of the most important multisports event in the Americas.

Lima 2019 isn’t just a sports and infrastructure legacy; it shows that Peruvians achieve their goals no matter what!  We are less than hours from the start of this major tournament, where Peru will go down in history for the hard work of the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee.”

TICKET PRICES STARTING AT PEN 10

Buy your tickets at lima2019.pe/tickets and support your favorite athletes. Recently, the Organizing Committee opened a ticket point of sale at the Jockey Plaza shopping center in Santiago de Surco. Now, you can get your tickets at any of the 11 point of sales located at the Metro and Wong hypermarkets and stores in the Chorrilos, Independencia, La Molina, San Borja, San Isidro, San Juan de Miraflores, San Miguel and Surco districts.

The ticket prices start at PEN 20 and 10 for the Pan American and Parapan American Games, respectively.  There will be a 50% discount for people with an impairment and their accompanying person, senior citizens, and children under 18. It is important to mention that 21 Pan American disciplines are qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and 13 Parapan American sports provide quota places for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games will gather 6680 athletes from 41 countries and delegations of the Americas. There will be 19 days of competitions and ceremonies between July 24 and August 11, 2019, which will take place in 14 districts of Lima and Callao. Some venues are the VIDENA, Villa María Sports Center, Callao Regional Village, Villa El Salvador Sports Center, Punta Rocas, among others.
