Sport review

Softball is said to have begun in 1887 on Thanksgiving Day in Chicago, when reporter George Hancock tied up a boxing glove with its own strings and formed a ball. The game took place when he took a broomstick handle, and using chalk, marked lines on the floor.

Softball consists of hitting a ball with a bat, similar to baseball. The attacking team must hit the ball far away without throwing the ball “out”, and run past each of the small bases like first, second, third base and home. A home run is earned when a player reaches home base.
